Students from the Butte County Office of Education's After School Programs participated in the 11th Annual "Kids Challenge" held at Butte College from 1:30 to 5 p.m. on Tuesday, April 24 at the main campus, 3536 Butte Campus Drive. Students from over 20 schools in Butte College, totaling over 450 students in grades 4-8 were on hand.
Students arrived by 13 buses at 1:30 p.m. and received a tour of a variety of campus departments by tour guides from the college. Following the tour, students entered the gym and received a welcome from Butte County Superintendent Tim Taylor and Butte College President, Dr. Samia Yaqub. There were special appearances by the Butte College Roadrunner, "Dash" and Butte County Office of Education’s mascot, “Chewy” who had some surprises up their sleeves. At 3:45 p.m., students participated in a competitive academic trivia tournament. This event helps promote the benefits of attending college to students at an early age.
